For each day in the past few weeks, I thought that I was gonna die because I believed I had cancer because there were these bumps on my anus. So for each day, I have been preparing to do what I thought I needed to do before I die. It was simple. I wanted to contact this professor of artificial intelligence at deepmind and tell him my theory of how a human like intelligence could be successfully structured and programmed using conventional deep learning AI techniques (I have had a long held theory of how the human brain works that I've been keeping secret). Also, I wanted to write a book on how to write fiction because I thought it would help a lot of author’s careers.
But it turned out that the bumps on my anus that I thought were cancer were just hemorrhoids, AGAIN.
PHEW!
Now that I have many more years left, my decisions are a bit more complex. When I thought I was going to die, it was simple. Just do this, this, and this.
But now that I see it, in a way, it is still simple. Now, I know where my priorities are.
Thus, what Steve Jobs said is true: "The knowledge that you are going to die truly does weed out all the nonessential values/desires, leaving you with what is truly important."
Also, this: "Knowing that you will die gets rid of the belief that you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart."
