Yes, I wrote a sequel to my first published novel from 8 years ago. A sequel! I usually end up not writing sequels because i always want to move onto different worlds, but 5 months ago i felt the itch to revisit this old world, and that's probably why i wrote in it, again.
I never know how well they'll do. Lately, I feel my writing ability has gone down in the past three years (or improved in a different route than the decrease in quality i saw when i looked at my old writing and thought "man, i can't write like that anymore"). Also, I once heard that writers who think their work is good end up having a work not being good at all, and the reverse is true as well: writers who are apologetic about the quality of their latest work end up seeing their work being received with public acclaim.
In terms of my own rating of my own novel, well.... this novel (stars at war 2) really didn't follow scott meredith's plot skeleton. There was no escalation of must-cannot problem all the way to the end. The whole novel was more of an "incident", a big series of events without much must-cannot "plot skeleton" escalation.
So according to this standard of measurement, the novel shouldn't be that good.
But, man! I wrote what i thought was a fantastic ending.
At least, I'm glad there are other standards of self-measurement.
