Trivia about Warlord's Invasion (Starfight Book 1):
- A lot of major and minor human characters have names that are copied from my favorite anime Legend of Galactic Heroes. Vier Kleingelt comes from the episode (the woman in the picture is Vier Kleingelt):

- The novel starts on December 12 3986 AD. That’s because December 12 1986 is my birthday. So, by 3986 AD, I will be exactly 2000 years old (and hopefully still alive).
- I started the novel because I had an idea of a really bad powerful bad guy doing bad things, but as I wrote the novel, I realized that the sequel will feature the big bad guy and so I made him more sympathetic or at least developed his character more
- I wrote really fast at the beginning of the novel (8000 words a day) but by mid novel my writing speed was (2000). Several things contributed to this. 1) I destroyed my brain from drinking too much beer. This led to memory loss and concentration. I had trouble remembering what I wrote and had to do many edits. 2) As I progressed, the novel was harder to write because there were more constraints due to what I had written earlier. I had to make it synchronous with what I had written before and I couldn’t just go into exploration mode and write anything. 3) I became obsessed with editing. I started the habit of first draftiness, where everything I wrote became lesser and lesser quality because I knew I would edit it later.
- During the course of the novel, I started really enjoying elaborating on character motivations, history, and backgrounds, as well as history of planets and nations.
- I realized during the course of the novel that I really like dark, passionate characters.
- The human crown world, Trantor, is also the name of the administrative center of the galactic empire in Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy
- Similarily, the name of the Ga capital world, Lakfakalle, is derived from the capital of the Ahb Empire in the anime Crest of the Stars
- Yeah, I know a captain (Huang Rui) in the marines is not supposed to be in the forefront of an infantry battle, and he’s not supposed to command a platoon, nor is he supposed to charge at the head into every danger point, nor is he supposed to be the first one to scout whether the enemy is dead or not… but dang it! I needed him to be at the forefront of danger, and I suppose he had to have a command rank as well.
