.or no updates...
battle of sol is at 85-90%. i've somewhat broken the 9 day no-writing pattern but it came back when i hit this part of the novel where the main character goes into the black hole and is forced to think of a solution to the black hole (the black hole being the point in the where things are blackest or dimmest and it looks like the antagonists are about to win) except... i have this feeling that the solution (i came up with) to the blackhole is weak and not really a solution.
but oh well, i don't have anything else. there's nothing else that can solve this blackhole that is as workable or obvious as this one. originally, when i wrote this novel, i had in mind another solution (that was epic)... a marine boarding-party solution, but when i got to this point, it became apparent that anyone would choose the other new/weak/not-so-epic solution first
i guess i have no choice but to use the new/not-so-epic one
and there's another reason i'm blocked. the text... man. just looking at the text (around the blackhole) makes me think it's a mishmash of words and it's gonna be boring. don't know if it'll catch the reader.
in general, i worry that my novel will not be as interesting because i keep trying to write the character's thoughts without also considering whether the reader would be interested in his mishmash of thoughts. Basically, at the beginning, i wrote his thoughts and thought they were pretty interesting and have a reason to be there, but as i went to the middle and the end, i started having doubts about this writing method... of elaborating on his thoughts (basically, the words in my book are just elaborations of my character's thoughts). certainly, i can understand that he'd have thoughts like the way i wrote them and it certainly would be interesting to him, but would it be interesting to the reader?

i think i have to create a new writing knowledge consolidation 2018, but that will take forever. oh well, i think it's necessary
i really want to write a wing commander-like book, and that's why i've been collecting non-fiction books that talks about how real life fighter pilots work and what their experiences is like, to write this wing commander / star fighter novel better (basically, it's going to be a novel about a star fighter pilot whose missions get tougher and tougher).
and also as i've been looking at my idea notes (i've got like 200 novel ideas that i've written while i've been blocked), i've really gotten interested in writing a book called warcry, which is about taking the viewpoint of an alien race as they fight with other alien races. the alien characters aren't the attraction, it's the stuff they talk about... warships, weapons, defenses, strategies
and then i think... damn, better not do this before i finish battle of sol. (i had a real compulsion to start on warcry before i finish battle of sol, and that's because i'm blocked on battle of sol and am listening to advice that says i should "writer copter", which means i should avoid the block and go start writing somewhere else.)
but that's no good, because then i'll have another book that's unfinished. or maybe the block will naturally dissolve if i go somewhere else?

as for the other novels which i stopped writing, they're still at 70%. (war of the dark mage + attack on antares)

and oh man! i've been wanting to buy this laptop for writing since like forever. it's a lenovo t480 with 8th gen i5, with 27 hour battery life. i love the battery life, and after reading how all other people think that the t480 is the ultimate productivity/business machine, i feel i need to have one -- even though i only have 2900 dollars in the bank. the t480 costs around 1000 so it's gonna be a hit on my wallet
