i'm currently working on a book called Ancient Enemy (Fleet Wars book 1)…. you know... with your typical "unknown aliens invading us, and we're going to fight them with space fleets and have huge space battles" plot. This time i'm basing all the tech/races/places off the game 'master of orion 2'.
even with that, honestly, I don't think i'm gonna make much. unless my blurb gets better than what it is. the blurb as it is right now sounds like 100 other novels of the same type. I think amazon readers are sick of these type of novels.
i don't think i'm gonna get a lot of clicks into my 10% sample. but... if they do make it there, i have done some innnovations/improvements to my writing process that should be able to pull them in. i'm changed my characterization methodology a lot (before i didn't have a characterization methodology lol!). although the novel is still very deficient compared to my "optimal" writing (because i failed to use all the interest pathways from my new methodology when making up the novel's bones/plot/characters), it is significantly better. When i decided to go ahead with the novel even though i realized it was deficient in a lot of things after i updated my general writing methodology about 2 months ago, i set my goals for the novel simply as an exercise in being able to write different character voices and personalities. there is not much money expected from this novel, something which i have to remind myself because i keep thinking "oh, this novel is going to bomb" - writer's block! panic! fear!
this one is not going to the editor. i don't have the money. i paid my editor 400 dollars last time and the book (from last time) only made 500 in total.
on other fronts, i have decided to work on the "writing_knowledge_consolidation_2019" before i continue with my current wip. mostly because i'm blocked in terms of writer's block. be smart, lee. use writercopter and super writer copter if ur stuck on one book so at least you'll be writing. be cool be cool, don't let writer's block freeze you
i'm still very paralyzed by writer's block. i have some new methods, but generally, i run away from the writing of my wip and convince myself that i should be doing idea think instead. made over 6 new book ideas (well thought out, well developed) - in the past 10 days! - and wrote no words on my wip or actually started writing on those 6 new book ideas
a lot of the reason why i'm so blocked is because of doubt of my writing ability, because i went off and watched soooo much porn (didn't fab tho, cause i'm on anti-dopamine pills and can't orgasm or get a sustained erection) and that impacted my brain and in particular my memory and other stuff and confidence and goal ability - note to self, do not watch pron! i break that note at a whim
on other fronts, i lost 500 dollars in a money making endeavor a couple of months ago. going to try again when i have 500 dollars again. who knows, maybe this time i'll learn and hopefully succeed, then i won't have to rely on my books selling
flat out broke as of right now. and that bank of America, when your account goes below 2000, you get charged 12 dollars maintanence fee per month, damn it
